Waiting On Wednesday #2

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases we are eagerly awaiting!

Rooms by Lauren Oliver

Publishing Date: 25th September 2014 (Hodder and Stoughton)

Compulsive and powerful ghost story narrated by two spirits who inhabit the walls of an old house. It’s a tale of family, ghosts, secrets, and mystery, in which the lives of the living and the dead intersect in shocking, surprising, and moving ways.

Wealthy Richard Walker has just died, leaving behind his country house full of rooms packed with the detritus of a lifetime. His estranged family-bitter ex-wife Caroline, troubled teenage son Trenton, and unforgiving daughter Minna-have arrived for their inheritance.

But the Walkers are not alone. Prim Alice and the cynical Sandra, long dead former residents bound to the house, linger within its claustrophobic walls. Jostling for space, memory, and supremacy, they observe the family, trading barbs and reminiscences about their past lives. Though their voices cannot be heard, Alice and Sandra speak through the house itself-in the hiss of the radiator, a creak in the stairs, the dimming of a light bulb.

The living and dead are each haunted by painful truths that will soon surface with explosive force. When a new ghost appears, and Trenton begins to communicate with her, the spirit and human worlds collide-with cataclysmic results.

ROOMS! This isn’t strictly categorized as YA book but I thought I’d feature it anyway, because I am really excited about this one. I have yet to read Panic still (I’ll make sure I read it before Rooms comes out) but this blurb sounds so intriguing. Not only this, but look at the cover!!! I was a little torn that we weren’t getting the red cover like the US do, but I have started to really love our UK cover much much more.

I can’t wait to see Oliver’s change in writing for a more mature audience readership. AND hopefully because of this, more people also find Delirium, because as you may know, I absolutely adore that series!

Is Rooms also on your TBR list? Since I’ve branched out of YA for this one, is there a non-YA book you’ve been anticipating?
